Jonathan Laks is an analyst for the Litigation Support practice at Applied Marketing Science (AMS).
In his role at AMS, Jonathan is involved with all aspects of litigation projects, including exploratory research, survey design, survey fielding, data analysis, and report development. He has worked for the Litigation Support practice on cases related to trademark and patent infringement, deceptive advertising, market confusion, dilution, and class certification.
Prior to joining AMS, Jonathan completed three six-month co-ops at various companies during his undergraduate career with Northeastern University. He first worked as an economic research analyst with John Hancock, where he monitored and analyzed global macroeconomic indicators to improve investment allocation decisions. Jonathan then worked for a small technology consulting firm, Endeavour Partners, where he assisted on strategy consulting projects, as well as legal expert witness reports for patent infringement cases. Finally, Jonathan worked at Dell Technologies, where he supported internal legal compliance processes and helped expand the software marketing team’s products overseas.
Jonathan first gained interest in research and marketing while completing an internship in Shanghai, China, where he was studying the Chinese smartphone market. After six weeks of primary and secondary research, he created an advisory report for ON Semiconductor on opportunities and strategies for the company to align with the changing market. Jonathan also conducted a study on the U.S. airline industry for his senior economic capstone; he used regression analysis to evaluate different factors that affect a consumer’s airline choice.
Besides Jonathan’s professional career, he was born and raised just outside of Boston, in Needham, MA but he is an avid traveler with an adventurous spirit. Not only has he driven 10,000+ miles across the U.S., going coast to coast, he recently toured China, South East Asia, and Europe. Jonathan highly recommends that people visit Vietnam for the beauty and variety of landscapes, Norway for its pristine environment and breathtaking hikes, and Berlin, Germany for the culture, history and music—especially if you like to dance!
Jonathan holds a B.S. in Economics and Political Science with a minor in Chinese (he can speak Chinese!) from Northeastern University, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
