Andrea Ruttenberg, Ph.D.
Andrea Ruttenberg is a senior manager in both the Insights for Innovation and Litigation Support practice areas of Applied Marketing Science (AMS).
As a senior manager, Andrea is involved in many aspects of the research process, including exploratory research, survey design, survey fielding, data analysis and client presentation design. Andrea works with clients in many fields, including medical devices, industrial equipment and technology. In the litigation practice, Andrea works in the areas of patent infringement, class certification and deceptive advertising.
Prior to joining AMS, Andrea was a researcher at the Social Science Survey Center at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB), where she provided research consulting to professionals in various fields, including information technology, student engagement and higher education strategy.
Andrea has a strong academic research background in the social sciences, executing both qualitative and quantitative research as a doctoral student in the communication department at the UCSB. She has published articles in several academic journals and she has presented her work at both national and international conferences. In addition to being a researcher, Andrea has served as a teaching assistant, a program evaluator and a university fundraising supervisor.
Andrea grew up in northwestern Pennsylvania, but she spent 6 years living in Santa Barbara, California before moving to the Boston area with her husband in 2012. Although she loved living in California, she surprised herself by growing tired of the mild weather and the constant sun, and she is happy to be in the Northeast, with its four distinct seasons. In her spare time, Andrea enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and son, hiking and going for walks, shopping at farmers’ markets, and retreating from the city to explore neighboring states and towns.
Andrea holds a B.A. in communication arts and sciences from Pennsylvania State University. She holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in communication research from the University of California Santa Barbara.
